The Bursary for Students with Disabilities (BSWD) and the Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities (CSG-DSE) together provide up to $22,000 per year for eligible Ontario post-secondary students. Most eligible students never access their full entitlement. We're here to change that.

Bursary for Students with Disabilities (BSWD) and the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment- Students with Disabilities (CSG-DSE) provide additional funding to help eligible post-secondary students cover the cost of disability-related educational services and equipment required to fully participate in their studies. These programs support students with permanent or persistent or prolonged disabilities, including both visible and non-visible disabilities, by funding items such as assistive technology, note-taking services, tutoring, learning strategies, adaptive software, ergonomic equipment, and specialized assessments.
Funding needs - based and determined by disability-related functional limitations, documentation from qualified healthcare professionals, and recommendations from a student's post-secondary Accessibility Services office.
Students may receive up to $2,000 per academic year through the Ontario- funded BSWD and up to $20,000 per academic year through the federally funded CSG-DSE, depending on assessed needs and eligible costs. Applications are completed after OSAP eligibility is confirmed and require coordination with campus accessibility and financial aid offices, as well as timely submission of documentation.

Students may qualify for the BSWD/CSG-DSE if they ate verified as having a permanent or persistent or prolonged disability that creates barriers to participate fully in post- secondary education. Eligibility is based on functional impact, not diagnosis alone.
Disabilities that may qualify include:
Learning Disabilities
Neurodevelopmental Conditions (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, ADHD
Mental Health Disabilities
Physical & Mobility Disabilities
Sensory Disabilities
Cognitive, Communication or Neurological Disabilities
Both visible and non-visible disabilities may be eligible.
